How to Fix Error F-5

1. Step 1: Power cycle the appliance

   Unplug for 5 minutes. Door lock mechanisms often reset after a power cycle. Plug back in and try opening/closing the door.

2. Step 2: Inspect the door latch

   Look at the latch mechanism where the door meets the frame. Check for food debris, mineral buildup, or visible damage preventing it from clicking into place.

3. Step 3: Clean the latch area

   Wipe down the latch, striker plate, and surrounding area with a damp cloth. Dry thoroughly. Accumulated grime is a common cause of latch errors.

4. Step 4: Check door alignment

   Close the door slowly and watch if it lines up with the frame evenly. If the door has sagged, the hinges may need adjustment or replacement.

5. Step 5: Test the door switch

   The door switch is usually a small button-style switch near the top or side of the door opening. Press it by hand — you should hear/feel a click. Test for continuity with a multimeter.

6. Step 6: Replace the door latch or switch

   If the latch is broken or the switch doesn't click, order a replacement. Most are held by 2 screws and a wire connector.
