2E Fridge sensor error
The Samsung 2E error code means the fresh food compartment temperature sensor (thermistor) is reading out of range. This is typically a failed $8-$18 sensor that clips in and takes about 10 minutes to replace.
What Causes This Error
Fridge compartment temperature sensor (thermistor) failed
highThe thermistor that monitors fresh food compartment temperature has gone open or short-circuit.
Sensor wire harness damaged
mediumThe wire connecting the fridge sensor to the main board has been pinched by the interior back panel or damaged by moisture.
Main control board ADC failure
lowThe circuit on the main board that reads the fridge sensor has failed.
How to Fix Error 2E
- 1
Power cycle the refrigerator
Unplug for 5 minutes. If the error clears and the fridge cools normally, it was a glitch. If it returns within hours, the sensor has failed.
- 2
Check diagnostic mode for sensor reading
Hold Power Freeze + Fridge buttons for 8-10 seconds to enter diagnostic mode. Look for the fridge sensor reading — it should show a reasonable temperature, not 'Er' or an extreme number.
- 3
Locate the fridge temperature sensor
The fridge thermistor is typically mounted at the top-rear of the fresh food compartment, often behind a small plastic cover or clipped to the ceiling area near the air vent.
- 4
Test the sensor with a multimeter
Unplug the fridge, disconnect the sensor's 2-pin connector, and test resistance. At 37°F (normal fridge temp) it should read approximately 9k-11k ohms. Open-circuit (OL) or 0 ohms = failed sensor.
Always unplug before disconnecting sensors. - 5
Inspect wiring for damage
Trace the sensor wire from the connector back to where it enters the cabinet. Look for pinch points, rodent damage, or corroded connections.
- 6
Replace the fridge thermistor
Order Samsung part DA32-10105R or DA32-10109V (check your model). The sensor unclips and unplugs — takes about 10 minutes to swap.
Replacement Parts
If the steps above don't fix it, you may need one of these parts:

If the sensor tests fine but the error persists, or if you can't locate the sensor on your specific model
- Some models have the sensor in hard-to-reach locations behind sealed panels
- If both fridge and freezer sensors fail simultaneously it usually points to a board issue
- A tech can verify main board voltage output at the sensor pins
