What Causes Error 8E

How to Fix Error 8E

Step 1: Check freezer temperature
The freezer should be 0°F (-18°C). If it's warmer than 5°F, the ice maker won't produce ice. Adjust the thermostat and wait 24 hours.

Step 2: Inspect the water supply line
Find the water line running to the back of the fridge. Make sure the shutoff valve is open. Check for kinks or ice blockage in the tubing.

Step 3: Check for frozen fill tube
The small tube that fills the ice mold often freezes. You can thaw it with a hair dryer on low heat directed at the back of the freezer where the tube enters.

Step 4: Reset the ice maker
